The good news is, in the first few months of pregnancy, you've got doctor's visits only once a month. Most docs offices stay open a little later for after work appointments, so try to make them then. If you can make your docs appointments early in the morning before work, or after work, that would be the best. No one wants to hire someone when they know in advance that in a few short months, they will be gone for six to eight weeks, or may not return. It's not a matter of prejudice, per se, but a matter of economics. They will have to continue to pay you, hire a temp to cover you, etc., etc. It's not lying to not reveal your entire life to someone who doesn't clothe you, feed your or care for you. Keep in mind that many responders will be from the US, where parental leave is really not that common for men (and hardly adequate for women either). It's August and the baby is due in December. So, it's really fine to just go ahead as if the baby does not exist and then approach a bit later after you've settled in. No need to talk about anything right now. Also, completely unsolicited advice, but if this is your first baby, consider a longer shared parental leave much later, at like 4-6+ months if you're really interested in bonding time and giving mom a break. My spouse took parental when the baby was already 4 months and it made a big difference because that's when the lack of sleep really started to take a toll, and he had a lot more time to actually spend interacting with the baby (a newborn is attached to the boob and you will not get much time with them).
